Dear students

Today we will start working on a new project. The instructions for the project are in the following book. Have a look (view it on a full screen, if you prefer)

Creative Commons

Dear students

I wouldn't like to finish the course without giving you the opportunity to think about a very important aspect when blogging: using other people's materials legally. In fact, up to today, I haven't asked you to be careful about this aspect, and many of you have used pictures you have found on the Internet without worrying about copyright laws etc...

Today, we will read a tutorial on Creative Commons that Maite Goñi, teacher and expert on ICT, has prepared for teachers and students:

If you want to search CC pictures to use legally follow this link:

After some exercises in which you have copied my designs, I invite you to create your own designs and to publish them in your blogs.

Remember that the main purpose for doing these activities is to train you so that you become teachers/assistants of your own classmates for the English project "Life between buildings".

I hope you have enjoyed the activities.

Our region through the ads

In today's class we are going to start with a mini project related to our etwinning project. You are going to work in pairs. Each pair is going to find an advert about the Basque Country (in general or about Tolosa or any of the three Basque capital cities). The advert should be in Basque or Spanish. Then it will be our work to subtitle it in English for our etwinning partners to understand. The objective is to let them know about our country and culture through the adverts.

So find a good advert in pairs and insert it in this padlet under your name. You can't repeat the advert.

Make a website to advertise your business

Now that you have your own blog, you're going to go a step ahead and create your own website. The main difference between a blog and a website is that a blog is used to add your news in a chronological order, whereas a website is thought as a more stable place with different pages. It is very simple to create a website if you use Google Sites.

You are going to imagine you've got a business of any kind (sports, technology, music, restaurants, art, transport, travelling, fashion, education, photography, ...) and you need to advertise it on the internet, because it is not very popular at the moment and you're not making much money.

Your website will minimally include:
  • "About us" page: Information about yourself (invented).
  • "Location" page: Exact location of your business.(Insert a google map with information of how to get there). We will do this one day altogether.
  • Detailed description of the services your business offers, in different pages. You can include photographs, presentations, video, spreadsheets, ...
  • "Contact" page: How to contact you.
  • FAQ page (Frequently Asked Questions)
Follow these instructions in the given order about how to use Google Sites.

    Work for Friday 13th

    Dear students

On our last class we contributed to the French students' padlets. Now we are going to learn how to create our own padlets.Work in pairs to create a padlet on a different topic:

So log in to Padlet. Use your google account. Follow these steps:

    • Click on the symbol that we usually use for "ajustes". At the top right.
    • choose a background and save and close
    • Give a title to your padlet according to the topic I have assigned to you:
    • Each pair has to include one good example of that topic in their padlet.
    • Then publish the padlet in your blog. (read below to know how)
    • Go to everyone else's blogs and in pairs contribute to the others' padlets with one example.
These are the topics for each padlet. If one pair wants to exchange the topic with another pair, I don't mind if you all agree.
    1. (Maialen and Ane) funny adverts
    2. (Unai and Danel) adverts that promote violence
    3. (julen and Aitzol) adverts where animals are ill-treated
    4. (Niko and Markel) adverts that show the love for animals
    5. (Beñat and Josu) adverts that are not very truthful to children
    6. (Leire and Luma) adverts that invite you to eat unhealthy food
    7. (Nerea and Nerea) adverts that invite us to lead a healthy life
    8. (Iratxe and Maider) sexist adverts
    9. (Amaia and Irati) male chauvinist adverts
    10. (Iratxe and Maria) adverts that send the message that the products are environmentally friendly
The adverts you choose can be in Basque, English or Spanish.

    How to publish your padlet:
    • Click on share (Compartir) at the top
    • Then click on "compartir/exportar/incrustar"
    • Then choose: insertado en tu blog o página web
    • Copy the html code and paste it in your blog as we always do to embed sth.

ETWINNING PROJECT: Advertising is in my life

    Dear students

The new year is here and we are going to start it with a project which is completely new for us. We are going to participate in an ETWINNING project called: "Advertising is in my life".

Etwinning projects enable us to cooperate with other European students and teachers. In this case, we are going to work with French, Slovakian, Turkish and Italian students on a project related to advertising.

Of course, we want you to work in a safe digital environment, and etwinning provides us with a TWINSPACE: this is a platform that only teachers and participating students will have access to. The link to this plataform is: You can insert a link to the platform in your blog to access it easily. Use the username and passwords I have given you to enter the twinspace.

Here is a video with some useful information about the use of the twinspace:
